If you have a dog, chances are I'm going to like you. Even if you're a random stranger that comes up to me in the park or in the middle of nowhere, I'll most probably stop for a chat. About whatever, I don't really care. It'll probably be something as fascinating as our dogs, my skittish puppy, how dogs are cleverer than humans, how there's nothing like having a dog welcome you when you get home... You know, all those clichés that us dog owners never get tired of tossing around.
Then again, if you're not in possession of a dog.... don't even think of coming up to me and exchanging a few words. Who do you think I am, some weirdo that likes to chat to strangers in parks/shops/airplanes about random crap like the weather?!?!
